PRECIOUS IS SAFE
A few months ago, a lady named Donna wrote a note on the AOL cocker message board.

She wrote that this poor little cocker puppy was left on a step all day long, possibly all night.  Attached to a "wire" she fell off the steps a few times, and Donna was terribly afraid something horrible would happen.

I tried to talk her into "taking" the dog to get her into a safe situation.

Donna kept going over and seeing her, attached to her step, and would feed her and play with her a bit.  She never had water, so Donna would give her some.  She even gave her a new collar, as her puppy collar was too tight and starting to dig into her neck.

This situation was getting worse, as it is starting to get very cold here in PA.

You'll never believe what happened next.

The man asked Donna if she wanted to BUY Precious from them.   Donna posted this on the AOL cocker board, and ALL of us jumped up and down.  Several people have been following the story.

We BEGGED Donna to go and get Precious, JUST GET HER.
Tonight, November 1, 2002, Donna DID get precious.  The owners were not home, but left Precious out on the step, in the dark cold night.  Donna couldn't take it any longer and took her, leaving a note for them to come over and get a check.

They want $500.00 for the dog.  They don't care about her, just the money.  We hate these people, and people like them.  Money is the only thing they care about.

Donna has her safe & sound, and has given her a bath, probably her first in 6 months.  She's beautiful.  She's possibly a Brown Sable, with some white on her chest and paws.

NOW, Cockers in Need is hoping to go and get her.

The kind and generous folks on the AOL cocker board have sent in donations, so we can reimburse Donna, and get Precious vetted and spayed.

Donna reported that Previous had a very peaceful night, in her cribby, next to her Golden.  She's very sweet and being a super little house guest.  Shame on those "people", for mistreating her.  We should file cruelty charges and charge HIM for us to take the dog.

If transport plans can be nailed down, we are hoping to bring her in tomorrow.

UPDATE:  11/02
The owners, herein also known as "scumbags" settled for $400.00 for their dog. They said she would be a good dog to 'breed', because she's different.  OY!!  Donna said they didn't even want to say goodbye to her.  How sad, these people are a disgrace to our species.

Mary Ellen and I are going to meet Donna and her husband tomorrow, around noonish, at a rest stop on the PA turnpike.

We'll be taking pics and updating later on, when we get her home.

Thanks everyone.  Ya'all pulled together to get this baby out of harms way.
Hooray ~ Donna has Precious

We have decided to change her name, give her a FRESH new start.  In honor of Donna rescuing her, and making sure she was looked after, we are naming her....

BELLA~DONNA
Precious living in the yard, this was her life, on a wire.
Bella was born 5/14/02.  She's almost 6 months old.  Her personality is darling.  She's playful, happy and give kiss's freely.

Her vet appointement is 11/14, and hopefully, she'll be healthy enough to spay.  We do have a few applications on her already, but want to make sure she goes to the PERFECT home for
her

I would like to see her in a home with another playful dog, and a fenced in yard.  Perhaps a stay at home dog mom or dad :-D

She is crate trained, and working on becoming housetrained.  So far, so good, as she's figured out how to use the doggy door, by running after Boo Boo.  He kinda taught her.

Bella in my office, playing with some toys.  She's a good girl.  She even got to try out our big bed.  She loved snorlkin in it.
11/05/02
Bella and Garry, getting a squishy.  She is a smart little girly, and comes when called.  She likes her new name.
11/05/02
Bella was in my lap, watching TV with us last night.  We likes to have her belly massaged and we are working on housetraining.

Isn't her coloring pretty?  She has the same colors as my cat, Bonnie.  Tonight, she went into her kennel by herself, and took a little nap.

Things are going well with Bella~Donna.  She's learning very fast.  She is running in the yard, probably for the first time.  It's really cute to watch.  She chases leaves and runs with the other dogs.  We have a large fenced in back yard.  She flys thru the doggy door, in and out, in and out.  It's a new toy for her.  She loves toys too, but mosty, loves to play with our big old lab mix.  She drives him nuts and he puts up with it.  She hops on him and nibbles on his ears and he barks and gets her all wound up.
Gonna try to get a picture of that later on.
