KitKat was found in the night box at a shelter in Virginia.  It was a few days after that big snow storm the east coast had.  She was carrying pups, and about to deliver any day.

The shelter took her right to their vet.  JoAnne, a volunteer brought her home with her, to give her a warm place to have her puppies.  However, they were packed and expecting more dogs to come in.  They sent out a HELP notice and we called them.

Our volunteer, Madrina, was able to meet with them and bring KitKat in to whelp the litter.  Lucky for Kit, Madrina is a vet tech and nurse, as there were some complications associated with the birth.  Emergency vetting was needed.

Because Kit was found with a collar, the law requires that we wait 10 days to see if an owner shows up.  Well, someone did show up, but they didn't want anything to do with the puppies.  We requested that she sign Kit over to us, so we could vet all the pups, spay the mom and rehome them.

After several weeks of waiting, the owner finally signed her over.
We lost one of the pups to a neurological problem, after one week.  She was named Angel~Cake, and will be resting peacefully in our memorial garden.
The rest of the pups are doing well, as is KitKat.
These pups are most likely cocker mixes.  We have 3 females and one male.  They are all black, two have a white stripe on their chest.

KitKat is a 4-5 year old Chocolate cocker spaniel.  She's friendly, gets along with the other dogs in foster home, and loves to take naps on the bed.  She loves belly rubs.  She's heartworm negative and healthy.  She's   spayed and will be updated on vaccines as soon as pups are weined.
Pups are 3 1/2 weeks old.  They have had their tails docked and dew claws removed.  Kit is being a good mom and still nursing her babies, but we'll be weaning them soon, they have TEETH.

Hehehe, gotta love that face.  They love their puppy food.
KitKat after a cookie, yum yum good
We save our pups for people who are mourning the death of a loved one or family pet that has passed away.

We want the pups to go to homes with a stay at home mom or dad, a fenced in yard, and another pet in the home.
There are no exceptions to this rule.

PUPPY LOVE
KitKat after being groomed by Madrina.  She was shaved down when she came in -- to have pups, so it's just starting to grow in.  She's a doll and will fit in with other playful dogs.  She was a very good mom and will go over to see her pups and give them a kiss.  Kit loves to sleep in bed with you and is using the doggy door for potty business.  She's quiet and loving.  It's now time to get her a FOREVER home.
Lorraine was just groomed by Madrina, & she was showing off her pretty face.
HOME
Male pup is on the left, and one of the females on the right.  It was a nice day, so the pups got to explore a bit and run around.
One of the females.  She had just finished eating.  Would you look at that fat little puppy belly.
Introducing SWEET~T.  She's just that.  Sweet & playful & loving.  She's the softest of the group.  Likes to cuddle and give kisses.  She will settle in but also likes to zoom zoom and play with toys. Sweet~T has a little white stripe down her chest.  Sweet~T is excellent with other dogs and loves people.  Sometimes, she goes belly up and acts shy, but once she opens up, she's a riot.
Introducing CUTE~T.  The only male in the gang.  He's fun LOVES to give frantic sloppy kisses.  He is probably going to have a short smooth coat and resembles a lab pup.  He's great with other dogs..  He's a very silly little boy and the one that talks to you to be picked up and held.  He needs a fenced yard & patient parents who will understand his puppy ways.
